NCTE presents MidSense, a sensor system for e-bike mid-motors

E-bike and motor manufacturers can choose from prefabricated configurations that can then be quickly implemented in series production

Munich/Oberhaching, 31.05.2023: NCTE presents a new modular torque sensor for e-bike drives at Eurobike in Frankfurt, Germany, June 21-25, 2023, Hall 8, Booth G36. MidSense is a modular sensor system for e-bike mid-mounted motors. It is based on NCTE’s proven components with robust, non-contact measurement technology that ensures a natural riding experience.

MidSense: A modular sensor system based on the proven NCTE components.

E-bike and motor manufacturers can choose from various, prefabricated configurations that can be quickly implemented in series production. All variants of the MidSense system already meet the relevant standards and have passed reliability tests for e-bikes and cargo bikes.

“MidSense incorporates our years of experience in the bike business, resulting in a modular system for robust and reliable e-bike sensors. For our customers, we shorten project development times and quickly bring our sensors into every e-bike series,” says Jürgen Uebbing, CEO of NCTE AG.

Non-contact e-bike sensors: Robust and maintenance-free

NCTE offers torque sensors for all e-bike drives, whether in the bottom bracket, mid-motor or hub motor (front or rear drive). The sensors are developed and manufactured “Made in Germany” in Oberhaching near Munich. In addition to torque, the sensor technology measures speed and direction of rotation. Via magnetic force measurement on the existing shaft, the sensor technology creates a unity between rider and bike – the basis for a harmonious, jerk-free riding experience on e-bikes.

Thanks to contactless technology, the sensors function precisely and reliably under challenging conditions. They are durable, maintenance-free and can withstand even strong vibrations, dirt or water – ideal for activities such as mountain bike touring.

Milestone reached: One million e-bike sensors

In the e-bike market, NCTE has been a reliable partner for companies such as Fazua, Pendix, Fischer, VanRaam and many more for more than 10 years. This year, NCTE reached a significant milestone, selling over one million e-bike sensors worldwide. “Over one million e-bike sensors is a clear testament to the growing popularity of e-bikes and the critical importance of reliable and robust sensor technology. We are proud to be part of this sustainable mobility,” emphasizes Uebbing.

About NCTE AG

NCTE is a specialist in non-contact sensor technology using the principle of elastic magnetostriction. The medium-sized company employs 40 people at its site in Oberhaching near Munich. NCTE develops, produces and sells sensor solutions that measure mechanical forces (torque, force, shear, speed or bending) in a completely non-contact manner – as standard sensors and customer-specific solutions, both in individual production and for series production. Customers include Fazua, Pendix, Red Bull Racing Team, Schaeffler, Fischer and VanRaam.
